In the meantime, although everyone has their own idea of the perfect resort, we hope that some of our personal opinions may help you. Our suggestions are based on personal experience and knowledge gained over more than 20 years. But this is just a quick overview - so don't hesitate to call or email for more information to help you choose the ideal resort for your short break or longer holiday this winter.

charm and tradition
For traditional atmosphere and beautiful scenery Zermatt, Megève, Engelberg, Gstaad, St. Anton, Lech, Courmayeur and Cortina d’Ampezzo have few equals. Others to consider are Morzine, the Chamonix Valley and Champéry.

confidence boosters for beginners and early intermediates
Avoriaz, Arosa, Gstaad, Grindelwald, Lech, Megève, Courchevel, Morzine, Courmayeur and Cortina d’Ampezzo have plenty of gentle slopes to flatter your style without trembling your knees!

cross country
Arosa, Davos, Flims, Gstaad and Grindelwald in Switzerland; Megève and the Chamonix Valley in France; Courmayeur in Italy and Lech and Bad Gastein in Austria are the best choice for cross-country skiing, with between 30km and 75km of prepared trails.

different
Flims is refreshingly British-free, has a big ski area and long runs. Champéry is Swiss chocolate box pretty, and part of the huge Portes du Soleil circuit. Cosmopolitan Davos and villagey Klosters attract few British skiers but share the same huge ski area, one of the best in Europe. Arosa is pretty, exceptionally high, exceptionally sunny and an all-round winter sports resort with beautiful scenery. Bad Gastein in Austria is the resort to choose if you want to combine outstanding genuine Thermal Spa facilities with your on piste activities.

early and late season
In AUSTRIA, Lech, St. Anton and Bad Gastein; in SWITZERLAND, Engelberg, Zermatt, Flims and Verbier and in FRANCE Argentière and Val d'Isère traditionally have an exceptionally long season, starting between mid-November and early December and lasting until late April or early May.

high adventure
For thrill seekers the Chamonix Valley, Verbier, Val d’Isère, Davos, Zermatt and St. Anton have on and off piste skiing to give you the high that only a severe adrenaline rush can.

nightlife
In Verbier, Zermatt, St. Anton, Cortina d’Ampezzo, Chamonix and Val d’Isère you will find the nightlife as varied as the skiing and as challenging as the blackest piste!

non-skiers
Cortina d’Ampezzo, Engelberg, Gstaad, Grindelwald, Megève, Chamonix, Arosa, Zermatt, Lech and Bad Gastein will delight even the most determined non-skier with range, of activities to enjoy every day.

ski-in ski-out
For 100% convenience Courchevel and Méribel have doorstep skiing from piste edge hotels – step onto your skis and off you go! Lech and Val d’Isère run very close.

snowboard
Davos, Flims, St. Anton, Val d’Isère, Champéry and Morzine-Avoriaz are especially snowboard friendly and have snowboard parks and half-pipes. Lech and Megève are easy for learning. Argentière is sublime once you have the know how!

style
Courchevel, Megève, Courmayeur, Lech, Cortina d’Ampezzo, Gstaad and Zermatt are in the top league for style and fashion, and where you are most likely to bump into the glitterati and get as much mileage from your ski wear as your lift pass!
